Kindle Edition: Adventures of the Tortoise eBook series
It’s been a while since we released the Adventures of the Tortoise app for iOS (iPad only) , Amazon, and Android. The app is a collection of folktales centred around the Tortoise; a popular figure in West-Africans fable. Last week marked an extension of the app as we released an eBook series of the same name on Amazon.
The book can be read on Amazon Kindle readers and also the Amazon Kindle App for Android, iOS , Windows Phones, Mac and PC. To download the free Kindle App, click here, follow the instructions and you’re on your way to having access to zillions of books including our book series. After downloading and installing the Kindle App, simply search for any of the books in the series on the Store using the app.
The book series currently contains the existing stories in the app namely:
While the app version is quite sophisticated given its combination of sounds, voice, text, colorful graphics and games, the storybook is very simple. Though the storylines remain the same, the narratives for some pages were further simplified to make it easier for children to understand. Each story is tailored to different African cultural theme such as Igbo, Hausa and Efik. It’s a subtle way to introduce children to African cultures, hence the use of native names and dressing for characters.
